Beauty Salon Manager this job entails that the incumbent be able to manage on his/her own the whole unit. This will include planning and coordination of the salons operations, keeping accounts, and overall management of both human resources and infrastructure. The pay is very good varying slightly from ship to ship. The minimum for this position is US, which can go up to about per month. Keep in mind that you are also entitled to free meals and accommodation on the ship.

Assistant Beauty Salon Manager the incumbent will need to be qualified in this field plus he/she should have experience of at least 2-3 years to be eligible. The person would the second in command and be able to assist effectively the Manager. The pay per month will be in the range of US and 3000 depending on the type of the vessel. Within a few years the person will be eligible for promotion to Managers position.

Manicurists, also called nail technicians, provide treatment of nails and skin and instruct the customers on proper hand and foot care. Cosmetologists provide top quality facial and body treatments, such as waxing. Several years' previous experience from beauty salons is required. Salaries range from $2200 to $3000 per month.

Hair Stylist: Hair stylists perform hair colouring treatments, permanents, straightening treatments, conditioning treatments and style cuts. Their customers are passengers, as well as crew members. Previous hair salon experience is required. Salaries range from $2200 to $3000 per month. For applying for Hair Stylist/ Hairdresser post you will need to have completed a training course in a certified college and/or have at least a three year apprenticeship in a high end salon. You will also have to be well versed in hair styling for females and males. Among other pre-requisites are, fluency in English, have the ability to cope with demanding high-end customers, and be able to work long hours with patience and friendly attitude. The salary for this job comes between US2200 and 3000. There is scope for tips; it is possible to get promoted from this post to that of Assistant Salon Manager if you cultivate the right skills and have the correct attitude.

Fitness Instructor: Apart from workout classes, most cruise lines offer the passengers instruction in yoga, aerobics and dance. The fitness instructor leads a group of clients and gives advice on exercising, health and diet. Appropriate qualifications, such as RSA or YMCA Group Exercise to Music are required, as well as relevant previous experience. Salaries range from $1800 to $2500 per month. The applicant for Aerobic & Fitness Instructor position should be qualified in aerobics; must possess a certificate such as NABBA, BAWLA or its international equivalent. The minimum teaching experience requirement is three months. The successful candidate would be required to conduct a great deal of aerobic classes, offer personal training to whomever requests for it, and supervise the gymnasium in general. The salary for this position is anything between US and 2200.

Alternative instructor there is a high demand for alternatives such as Tai Chi and Yoga. Needless to say that to qualify for these positions you will need to show certificate of completion of training; the minimum experience required in six months in a reputed high-end organization. The salary for this post is the same as the Aerobic & Fitness Instructor.

Lifeguard / Pool Attendant: Some large cruise ships have swimming pools for passengers. The lifeguard's job on a cruise ship is very similar to the same job onshore: to supervise swimmers, prevent accidents, make sure all safety requirements are met, provide first aid when needed, suggest emergency procedures, maintain rescue equipment, etc. Previous experience is desired. Salaries range from $1600 to $1800 per month.

Spa Attendant: Spa attendants assist passengers during spa treatments, as well as take bookings. They must have a good knowledge of hydrotherapy, relaxation and detoxification techniques. Salaries range from $1800 to $2000 per month.

Cosmetologist: The applicant will have to be highly experienced and a good command on English. The salary for this type of job will vary between US and US.

Massage Therapist: Getting a massage therapy job on a cruise line can be a lot of fun, but it is also a lot of hard work. You need specific credentials and experience. Massage therapists must be able to provide passengers with a choice of techniques: Swedish, Thai, Relaxation, Deep Tissue and Sports massage. Must be licensed and experienced in the area. Salaries range from $2800 to $3800 per month. Message Therapist In order to even be considered for this position you will need to have at least 3-5 years’ experience in a reputed, high-end massage parlour. Most of the cruise liner would require you to be a qualified Swedish Masseur. The better liners will look out for additional qualifications such as Shiatsu, Reiki, Aromatherapy, Reiki Healing, and so on. It is important that you are fluent in English. An additional international language would be highly advantageous. The salary varies between US and US depending on the type of ship.


In order to land a massage therapy job on a cruise line, you must have a lot of experience. Cruise lines want to offer their clients the very best. Most cruise lines require that you be qualified in Swedish massage, and any others that you might be skilled in such as Shiatsu, reflexology, and aromatherapy are a definite bonus. You must also have good English skills, but if you know another language that could also work in your favour.

Jobs on a Cruise ShipAlthough working conditions can be difficult, a cruise line massage therapy job can be very rewarding. You get to work with different people all day, and since they are on vacation they are usually happy and cheerful. You get to travel to places you may not otherwise be able to go to. When you are not on duty, you get to use the amenities of the cruise ship just like the passengers.
